Role Summary:

The City Head – Private Burgundy will be responsible for spearheading the life insurance distribution business within Axis Bank’s Burgundy Private segment, which caters to ultra-HNI clientele. The role requires strong leadership in driving premium delivery, strategic sales planning, stakeholder engagement, and deepening life insurance penetration through high-performing Private Bankers. Candidate must have a strong knowledge about wealth management, including investment products, asset allocation strategies, tax-efficient solutions, and the ability to integrate life insurance offerings seamlessly within a client’s overall financial plan.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Business Leadership & Strategy

  • Drive life insurance business for Burgundy Private channel across assigned geography, aligned with Axis Bank’s private banking strategy and Axis Max Life’s goals.
  • Define and execute Circle level business plans (Premium, Activation, Case Size, Product Mix, Market Share).
  • Identify segment-specific growth levers including annuity, retirement, and legacy solutions for UHNI clients.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strategic relationships with Axis Bank’s Private Bankers, Managing Partners, and key leadership across branches.
  • Lead joint engagement models to drive activation and conversions.

 Sales Governance & Execution

  • Track daily/monthly KPIs: Seller activation, lead conversion (LCR), persistency, and productivity metrics.
  • Monitor adherence to activation rhythm, performance cadence, and campaigns.

Coaching & Capability Building

  • Train and handhold Private Bankers on Axis Max life’s insurance solutions and pitch frameworks.
  •  Uplift self/partner- capability via product workshops, market insights and estate planning concepts.

Process & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure robust CRM hygiene, lead funnel management, issuance quality, and persistency delivery.
  • Collaborate with Axis Bank for seamless onboarding, complaint resolution, and operational excellence.

 Customer-Centric Initiatives

  • Champion delivery of white-glove customer experience through life insurance.
  • Support proposition rollouts .

Measure of Success:

 

·  Premium Delivery and Market Share: Plan vs Actual

·  Activation Rate: % of Active Sellers (Plan vs Actual)

·  Productivity: Avg. Case Size, Case Rate, and Premium per Active

·  Product Mix Achievement: ULIP, Annuity, Non-PAR contribution(including Protection)

·  Persistency: 13th month Actuarial & 15th Month persistency

·  Sales Governance: Cadence adherence, Lead Funnel tracking

·  Campaign Performance: Success rate of sellers in the launched campaigns

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Master of Business Administration from a premier business school or equivalent.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in Distribution Operations, Wealth HNI and Affluent Channel Management, Prior experience in insurance essential.
  • Skill set: Strategic Sales Planning, Stakeholder & Relationship Management, Customer-Centric Selling, Life Insurance Product Expertise (ULIP, Non Par/Par, Annuity, Legacy Planning), Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration, Wealth management.
