Function Summary

Introduction:  Group Credit Life insurance is a specialized product offered by life insurance companies designed to cover the outstanding loan amount in case the borrower passes away during the loan tenure. This insurance is typically purchased by financial institutions like banks and NBFCs to protect their loan portfolios and reduce credit risk.

Job Summary

The Area Head – Group Credit Life is responsible for leading and managing the Group Credit Life insurance business within a designated geographical area. This role involves strategic planning, driving sales growth, managing a team of field and sales professionals, and ensuring the achievement of business targets while maintaining compliance and excellent customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Strategy & Growth:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business growth and revenue targets for Group Credit Life insurance within the assigned area.
    • Identify market opportunities, potential clients (banks, NBFCs, financial institutions), and partnerships to expand the credit life insurance portfolio.
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to adapt business strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales managers, field officers, and support staff to achieve sales and operational goals.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, training, and development programs for the team.
    • Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing discipline, ethics, and customer-centricity.
  • Sales & Client Relationship Management:
    • Drive sales initiatives and ensure consistent achievement of sales targets for Group Credit Life insurance.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients such as banks, NBFCs, and other financial institutions.
    • Negotiate and finalize agreements or contracts with partners and clients.
  • Operational Excellence & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies related to Group Credit Life insurance.
    • Oversee the smooth onboarding of new group credit life schemes and timely processing of policies.
    • Monitor the quality of service delivery including claims handling and premium collection.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Prepare and submit regular business reports, forecasts, and analysis to senior management.
    • Analyze business performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Cross-functional Coordination:
    • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and marketing departments to streamline processes and enhance customer experience.
    • Participate in product development and market feedback loops.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in life insurance sales, with significant exposure to Group Credit Life insurance.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and achieving business targets.
  • Strong knowledge of credit life insurance products, underwriting, claims, and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a competitive market.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM/insurance management software.
